Arizona has public court lookup, court documents, and restricted state history

Need Official starting point What the source can establish
Find a public Arizona court case Public Access Case Lookup. Participating-court case/docket information; the site cautions that online information is not guaranteed official, current, or complete.
Obtain a Superior Court criminal document eAccess. Eligible Superior Court case documents within the published date coverage; restricted/sealed material is excluded.
Review your own Arizona state criminal history Arizona DPS Record Review. Fingerprint-supported subject review from the central state repository under restricted access rules.

eAccess coverage depends on court type and filing date

Most Superior Court criminal cases

eAccess states that its civil and criminal Superior Court coverage begins with cases filed on or after July 1, 2010.

Pima County criminal cases

Pima criminal records have a later eAccess start date: July 1, 2015. A pre-2015 Pima case therefore should not be declared nonexistent merely because eAccess lacks it.

Justice and municipal courts

The eAccess FAQ says those court records are not provided through eAccess. Public Access can supply docket information; contact the responsible local court for records/documents.

Sealed or restricted cases

eAccess excludes cases/documents closed by law, rule, order, or confidentiality protections. Absence can be an access restriction rather than absence of a proceeding.

Arizona DPS is not a public third-party employment lookup

  1. 01
Identify whether you are the subject of the record

DPS permits an individual to review their own Arizona criminal history for accuracy/completeness.

  2. 02
    Use the record-review process

DPS requires a Record Review request tied to fingerprints so the subject can be positively associated with the state record.

  3. 03
Do not convert subject access into general public access

The state says it lacks authority to provide ordinary criminal-history employment checks to private citizens/private employers through the Central State Repository, subject to specific statutory programs.

  4. 04
Use the court system for public case research

When the goal is public case information about a prosecution, use Public Access/eAccess/local clerk routes instead of describing restricted DPS history as a public search engine.

Before treating an Arizona result as proof, run four checks

  • ✓
    Participating court

Public Access does not promise identical coverage for every Arizona court.

  • ✓
    Court level

Superior Court documents belong in eAccess; justice/municipal documents use the local-court route.

  • ✓
    Filing date

Apply the July 1, 2010 general Superior Court cutoff and July 1, 2015 Pima criminal cutoff to eAccess expectations.

  • ✓
    Document authority

If a certified record is required, obtain the certified document from eAccess when available or the responsible clerk; do not rename an informational case-lookup page as a certified record.
